Insane in the Membrane No Longer Requires All Reputations Simultaneously

Patch 5.2.0
Updated during Patch 5.2.0
Today I was able to confirm that Insane in the Membrane no longer requires that all reputations be held simultaneously, a change that was introduced in Patch 5.0.4 and widely regarded to be a bug. As a result, I’ve restored the relevant information to my guides.
However, there are still some gotchas, especially if you were in the middle of a grind. (continue reading…)
Virtually Free Bags

[Note: This post was originally published during Wrath of the Lich King and lost a while back in a nasty disaster; with the help of the Internet Archive I've recovered it, and also updated it for Mists of Pandaria.]
So you just rolled a new character in World of Warcraft and after that woefully inadequate 16 slot backpack filled up on the very first quest, you finally remembered that your alt needs bags. You could spend 20 to 40 gold buying four 16-slot Netherweave Bags on the auction house, which you’ll eventually replace and have to vendor. Wouldn’t it be nice if 16-slot bags didn’t bind, so you could keep them around and mail them between characters? (continue reading…)

You’re a new level 10 player in World of Warcraft, and you barely have a copper to your name. How in the world are you supposed to make any gold in this game? How did that level 40 druid afford a 15,000 gold chopper while you’re still wearing cast-off rags? Today I’m going to show you how to put 2,000 gold into your empty wallet at level 10. 60 Exalted Reputations
by Raimondas the Insane on Nov 20, 2012, under Reputation
Patch 5.0.5b
Updated during Patch 5.2.0
On Sunday I finished my 60th exalted reputation grind, earning the achievement 60 Exalted Reputations, and have only a dozen or so more to go before filling up every possible reputation bar. (Though there’s one or two that I’ll skip, such as Bloodsail Buccaneers.)
I’m really after 70 Exalted Reputations, one of the rarest achievements in World of Warcraft. It was added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Earning this grants you the title, The Beloved. (continue reading…)

Patch 5.0.5a
Updated during Patch 5.2.0
Update: Please see Insane in the Membrane No Longer Requires All Reputations Simultaneously.
Many people wrote in over the past few weeks to report that their progress toward Insane in the Membrane was stymied. When they gained Honored with Bloodsail Buccaneers, it showed as achieved on the achievement tracker, but when they lost the reputation it disappeared again. (continue reading…)

Patch 4.3.4
Updated during Patch 5.2.0
You may have noticed that the site has been unavailable for several days. This happened due to a corrupted disk in the server, combined with a corrupted backup. I’ve spent the last few days trying to recover as much data as I can, and unfortunately it wasn’t much. I was able to recover all of the guides, but all of the previous posts, all comments, and most of the images have been lost. I will be reconstructing what I can as I am able, so please pardon the mess; I have several other sites I have to recover as well, and they won’t be quite so easy.
Linux support coming for Blizzard games?

Patch 4.3.3
Updated during Patch 5.2.0
An interesting fact has emerged regarding the Mists of Pandaria beta (and the Diablo III beta) that most fansites are going to have missed. Buried deep within the launchers for these two beta games is Qt, a cross-platform application framework. Qt is well known to Linux users since it forms the foundation of KDE, one of the two major Linux desktop environments. (continue reading…)
